Explain that the process in our district is using the the SETT (Student, Environment, Tasks and Tools) Framework.
An iPad is never out of the question; all devices are considered when using the SETT Framework. We have a broad continuum of low-tech to high-tech tools available in our district and after the AT consult, the AT consultant will recommend the one or more that best fits all of the student's needs.
Explain that we address barriers, and ask them if there are any barriers in the classroom for their student that they don't feel are being addressed.

"Why does it take so long for an AT consultant to come out and observe my child?"

Explain that there are two consultants for the district (PreK through age 26) and that we will schedule their student as soon as possible.
Talk about the AT Checklist and how you're using it to not only document what AT their student is using, but to gather ideas of new strategies to try while you're waiting for an observation.

At P-CEP, each student is provided with a district Google account. There are numerous Google Apps and Extensions that can support individual student needs while utilizing district and/or personal devices.
