Q. Can my student have an AT consult without an IEP or 504?
A. We are only able to service students with 504 and IEPs.
Q. Can the AT Consultant work with my student on his/her personal device?
A. Unfortunately, A&IT is unable to support personal devices. However, through the SETT Framework, we can find supports that fit your student.
Q. How many AT Consultants does P-CCS have?
A. There are two AT consultants for P-CCS, which includes 15 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 4 high schools, a pre-K and young adult program.
Q. I've heard of an accessible online library called Bookshare. What is it and how can my student get access?
A. Bookshare is an accessible online library for people with a print disability.
If you would like to obtain a Bookshare membership for your student, you are required to provide proof of your student's print disability. Unfortunately, students with sole diagnoses such as ADHD, CI, EI, or ASD do not qualify for Bookshare.
Qualifications for Bookshare can be found here.
Q. I've heard good things about the LiveScribe Pen. What type of student is most successful with this type of device?
A. LiveScribe Pens are very helpful for students who have the ability to differentiate main ideas and details and pull that information from a oral lecture. Students who are successful with a LiveScribe are able to develop their own organizational system for coding their notes as well as manipulating a device while simultaneously listening. The LiveScribe system is designed for students to listen to the lecture again while reviewing their notes.
